Raising educational levels in the eight county area.
In 2005, the Curriculum Alignment and Professional Development workgroups were combined. This was done because there was considerable overlap in their discussions and plans. The Council is working with K-12 teachers, postsecondary faculty, and adult education providers to review and implement curriculum alignment group initiatives in English and mathematics. We are utilizing statewide resources (e.g. the American Diploma Project benchmarks and the Council’s Statewide Postsecondary Placement Policy) in order to avoid unnecessary duplication and to align with state-level efforts. In the future, the Council plans to focus on science curriculum alignment and professional development for instructors as well.
The Leader In Me (pdf) − Many of you have trained in Stephen Covey’s "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People". Following that came Sean Covey’s "Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens". Now the Coveys have brought the training to the elementary level. KEDC will be rolling out the this exciting program on November 17th.
Grant Writing 101 (pdf) − The Center for Rural Development is pleased to announce an opportunity for you and/or colleagues to participate in an exciting professional development experience.
